Buy a Locking Mobile Storage Case!

I've tried the cheap plastic ones, and the bottom breaks after a few months. This is the only case I stand behind.

Dividing your storage case by carriers, supplements and directories will help keep you organized and looking qualified.

With a sharpie, write the name of the carrier and plan on the top of each benefits booklet.

SUPPLIES TO CARRY AROUND IN YOUR CASE

Extra Applications

Some Advantage Plan books do not have tear out applications so you need carry them around in addition to the book. Always have at least 2 of each in your case, and back ups in your car.

Mini Hand Sanitizer

Truth be told, you will be visiting some pretty dirty houses, and on occasion, you will want to immediately "wash" your hands upon leaving your appointment with a shot of Purell.

Stapler

You will staple your card to not only the application receipt you hand the client, but the booklet you leave behind.   Also leave them a few "loose" cards as referral opportunities.

One Sharpie Pen

I use them to mark each book I carry around. I use my sharpies all the time.

Pens / Highlighter

I carry at least 5 to 6 pens in my case at all times. You will lose a lot of pens.  Try to get free ones from the carriers when you go to trainings.  Carry at least 1 highlighter.

Business Cards

I carry at least 25 to 50 business cards at all times. I put them in a zip-lock bag to keep them clean and orderly.

Mints

While mints won't cover up bad breath, they do give you a quick "fresh breath" feeling.  The large tins of Altoids are also the perfect size to carry your business cards!

Reference Material

Buy The Perfect 3 Ring Zippered Binder

Carrying around your reference material in a professional looking "portfolio" is vital.

Be sure to buy a sturdy Zipper 3-ring binder "portfolio" with extra storage areas for cards, calculator, extra cards, notes, pens etc.

If your binder does NOT have a built in calculator, buy a cheap calculator or use your cell phone when needed.

  • A copy of your state license
  • Your carrier listings & writing numbers
  • Your doctor network grid
  • Your plan comparison matrix
  • Important Phone Numbers / Contacts
  • Plan reference #'s (like Humana)
  • Your State's Medicaid & LIS Information
  • Generic Scope Of Appointment sheets

Brochure Holder

The brochure holder to the left will hold an 8.5"x11" sheet of paper when folded in half (same size as the "17 Questions To Ask" flyer that I use).

This also has a front holder for your business cards.

Be sure to "scratch" your name into the back of this unit so people don't steal it.
